Below is the obituary for a woman who was very active in genealogy. I thought there might be those who "knew" her but would not be aware of her passing. I should confess, I'm a librarian. So, I did what any good librarian SHOULD do--I contacted a colleague. The St. Charles Public Library has a real-time reference service, as well as an email service. They answered my question within 3 hours! There's a Garfield Cemetery Association and they gave me a contact name and number. I'm going to call her tomorrow. last I heard they were still a manual office.. but the people very nice and would COPY the info not rewrite it. for a buck fifty that would be great result. I'd suggest an alpha listing. with space for the office to make notations while they do your request.. and ask for corresponding lot cards so you can se if there are others on the lot with your family that you don't know about.. and ask for a pretty decent map of the cem so someday you can go and photo your monuments. or ask if they have any researchers that they allow in their office to do the work - including the monuments.. remember monuments might have info not found on the cards.. valentine. ive spend well over 10.00 a name.. 1.50 is soooo reasonable.. consider it a birthday gift to yourself... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kim Nelson" <knelson@muellercpa.com> To: <ILKANE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 25, 2003 4:28 PM Subject: RE: [ILKANE] Bluff City Cem, Elgin > That is a good question. I don't know who, if anyone, has records. I've seen some mentions that it is in Wasco, but it is in Campton Twp... <http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilsgs/ilcemetery-al/kane.html> If it's a small cemetery, or if you can figure out where in the cemetery they are, I can get digital photos for you. PS I forgot to tell you that we just got microfilm copies of the Dubuque Luxemburger Gazette which covers August 4, 1871 through June 27, 1918. There is an index to this: Luxembourgers in the New World by Nicholas Gonner, which we also have. The only bad thing about this is that it is in German and is printed in that old and hard to read German Black letter print. If you will be in the Chicago area in early April, you may be interested in the following all-day program at the Newberry Library: Washington, DC-based speaker Eric G.
