    1. [ILKANE] POORHOUSE Information
    2. Poor House Lady
    3. We would like to invite you to re-visit our website, The POORHOUSE STORY (a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American poorhouses) at http://www.poorhousestory.com We have just published a link to the poorhouse resident list from the 1880 Census for KANE County. DIRECTIONS: At the homepage (link above) click on POORHOUSES BY STATE, then on ILLINOIS on the table of states, and KANE County on the table of counties. If you have been to the website recently you may have to click REFRESH or RELOAD on the browser to see the new information. There are other pages on the site which may give you some interesting perspective on poorhouses. They are off the homepage and include: the HISTORY page and the LETTER TO GENEALOGISTS (which explains why you might climb over your own "brick walls" at the poorhouse) as well as FEATURED ARTICLES. There are great tips for researching poorhouse records for yourself on the RECORDS page; and you might want to subscribe to our (almost) monthly newsletter (which you can do in the lower right corner of the homepage). The information on our site will only grow through the submissions of generous readers. If you would like to e-mail me ... please do so off-list because I cannot maintain subscriptions to as many lists as we post messages on. (You can use an e-mail link off one of our web pages.) We hope you enjoy the site! Thanks, Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)

    1. [ILKANE] Minium's
    2. Kim
    3. I'm new to list. I have been researching the Minium family in Crawford County Penn. for some time. Some of the Minium's moved down to Kane County from PA after the 1840 census in PA. The two brothers that moved down to Kane County are Henry and Hannah Minium and his brother John and Mariah Minium. John and Mariah are in Kaneville in 1850 and 1860 census, Henry and Hannah are in Aurora in the 1880 census. John and Mariah Minium children married into these families that I know of, Matthew Boyd, Ellen Newton, Jackson Hovey, Mary Kenyon, Monroe Kendall, Cleveland Acox-Hi Monica and John Shaw. I'm interested in where John and Henry Minium maybe buried in Kane County and when they died, also is there an obit for either one of them. Thanks for any help. Kimberly Liljequist
