Thank you to all who sent advice and information on this question. With your help and a google search I found the following site: http://www.iltrails.org/kane/stmary's.html It appears that the eighth pastor of St. Mary's Parish in Elgin was Father Terrence Fitzsimmons who served from 1868 to 1877. He was the one who married my great great grandparents. Thank you for all your help, Lynn Volunteer of Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness. In the 1900 census "May Donivan" was listed as a house servant for Claude and Clara Eaton. The Eaton's lived at 145 Main St. in Batavia, Illinois. I believe this May Donivan was actually MARY ELLEN DONOVAN, the daughter of Jerry and Julia DONOVAN. The DONOVAN'S lived at 214 Main Street, Batavia, Illinois. Would anyone happen to know of the EATON's that might verify they had a house servant at that time? May or Mary was 16 years of age. I am interested in finding any information about her. If she married or if she died? I cannot find her in any further census. She is not listed as living with her parents in later census. Any leads would be appreciated. TIA, Laura
Barb, At least three of the children were married in Kane County: Amanda m. William Leach, 25 Apr 1858, #3663 Hiram (not Harmon) m. Julia Knox 11 Feb 1862, #5205 Ann Eliza m. William E. McGuire 1 Apr 1868, #6238 I could not locate additional marriages in the published records of Kane County marriages 1836-1906. You might try searching here: http://www.sos.state.il.us/departments/archives/marriage.html for marriages in adjacent counties, etc. Best of luck! My GGgrandfather, Hiram was in the 1850 census in Blackberry Twp. Kane Co. it was probably then or not long after. I am interested in being in contact with anyone researching decendents of William and Mary Jenkins. I know they were in Batavia and that they had several children. Mary was Millett connected to the Milletts of Kane Co. Marys parents were Samuel and Rachel Douglas Millett. Samuel was a brother of my ancestor, Andrew Millett. I have not done very much research on the Jenkins interested in finding out what happened to this family. Barb Smith

My grandfather lived in Kane County from about 1924-1934. He started a business for himself but sold out during the depression to the Challenge Co., in Batavia,Illinois. I am wondering if there would be records of such a transaction? I do not know the name of the business he started and only as I say that it was sold to the Challenge Co.

I am wondering if anyone knows what the name of any public elementary schools were in Geneva from 1924-1934. My father was living in Geneva then and in the public schools so I am curious what the name of it would have been. I don't know if at that time there was more than one school. They lived on State Street in Geneva. Thank you and feel free to email me at csds@lsol.net
