    3. Ladies and Gentlemen: In case it might be of any help to anyone with Baptist ancestors, I submit the website of the Primitive Baptist Library, in Carthage, Illinois, which has done research on churches of that faith in over 80 counties of Illinois, and in over 30 states across the northern part of our country. The Library has a collection of church and association records, and periodicals, with obituaries, and membership lists have been extracted and entered into a database which now has about 44,000 names, about half of which are for Illinois. The website is: http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/pbl.html Sincerely, Elder Robert Webb

One is in downtown Chicago at 10:30 AM at a place called the Union League Club (apparently, it is easy to get the Chicago Press and hopefully, City of Chicago Clergy, to come to this location), and the second is at 2 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, Bensenville. The Founder of the Becket Fund, Seamus Hasson, is making a special trip to Chicago, along with Mr. Pat Korten, to address these important meetings/news conferences to create awareness about the March on the 21st and to discuss the importance that recent political/legislative events have placed upon this march. Your attendance is welcomed at the upcoming meeting/news conference at St. John's United Church of Christ. The gathering will take place in the Parish Hall at 2:00 p.m. The address of the church is: 601 Illinois Route 83 Bensenville, Illinois 60106-1349 Look Forward To Seeing You There! 3. Hello Christine, Just a thought but you might try searching on the GenForum for the Westcott Family Forum and posting a message there. I had some pictures of a young girl from the 1880's that I found when my gram passed away and was able to find enough information to find her granddaughter who was delighted with the pictures as her grandmother had dies when her father was only 5 and they had never seen what she looked like. It might be worth a try. Good Luck! 3. Betty, Thank you for your kind words and for asking about the other surnames. There are a few, but not many. The publication date of the Bible is 1867. Marriages: Judah W. Westcott and Mary L. It is 4 inches thick by 9 inches wide by 11 inches tall. It does not have any entries for Clarence Westcott, who is enumerated in the 1900 Census in the household with Judah, Mary, and Charles in Aurora. Census records indicate that Judah, Mary, and Charles Westcott were farming in DeKalb County in 1880. In 1910, Mary was living with Lenard [?] and Minerva Watkins in Aurora, IL, and I have not been able to find a 1910 Census record for Charles. In 1920, Charles was married to someone named Kate and still living in Aurora. By 1930, Charles was married to someone named Annie and was still in Aurora. Near as I've been able to tell, there are no Westcotts in Aurora now, at least not listed in Anywho.com. If this family sounds familiar to anyone, please let me know. 1. [ILKANE] German Newspaper 'Ostfriesische Nachrichten' - later 'Ostfriesen Zeitung'
    2. Boyken & Boyken Partners
    3. Dear Listmembers, The old German newspaper "Ostfriesische Nachrichten" was published by Pastor L. Hündling [Huendling} in 1882 in Iowa as a connecting paper between the people in the new American settlements and die old homeland with news and events in Ostfriesland and the "New World". Later you could find this newspaper all over the U.S. and Ostfriesland. For the period between 1882 and 1915 the issues were microfilmed around 20 - 30 years ago. According to a descendant of Pastor Huendling about 10 years ago, most of the issues between 1916 and 1971 got lost on the way to a processing center to be microfilmed. Besides Rev. Kenneth DeWall and others, who published in the past some indexes of (only) obituaries, we started in 1997 reading each newspaper for 1882 - 1915 and 1916 - 1971 (single issues) from the front to the back and taking all of the personal data in obituaries and local news into computer files. We added also interesting stories about the events in the New World - especially for the German readers -. So far we have listed 10,300 names of deceased between 1882 and 1915 plus 12,300 names of relatives, and until 1971 only 2,000 deceased / 5,000 relatives. Now we are looking for issues of this newspaper between 1916 and 1971. The undersigned would appreciate your answer if you have access to those issues. We have the microfilms from Crest Information Technologies and Heritage Crest, both in Cedar Rapids, IA. Most of the single issues after 1916 are scattered all over the U.S. and Germany. We guess, maybe finding them in the attics, etc. of old East Frisian settlements in the States. Thank you very much in advance for your help in preserving the data. Sincerely, Hans-Georg Boyken Ostfriesland-Society of Iowa, Inc.

    2. Betty-Jane
    3. Hi Cheryl, Thanks for answering. I do not know David Wilson's father, all I know of him is he was born in VT but married in NY. I do have some Mich. land purchase records of a Truman and John Wilson buying land Dec. 14, 1836 in Mich. saying they were from Duchess Co., NY. They bought jointly 2 different parcels, Truman one and John one each with a James Hoag. Truman would have been about 16 at the time. That is not the land he settled on though, and where the farm is that is still in the family, after 152 years. It is in approx. area though. Betty-Jane bjlee@gate.net

    1. Re: [ILKANE] Cemetery Transcriptions & VANDUSEN
    2. Thanks Judy, I'll try St. Charles and Elgin first and see. It looks from the "Surname Guide to Kane County, Illinois Cemeteries" by Dean McMakin, that many of the cemeteries in the county have been transcribed. This is a shot in the dark, but I just came across your surname today for the first time in my research. Any chance that Alvin & Mary (BALL) VANDUSEN are in your family's history? They were married in 1835 in Cattargus Co., NY, and lived in Winfield, DuPage Co. in 1850. Alvin, born 1812 NY, was son of Henry, who was born in Germany. I don't know what happened to Alvin & Mary after 1850. On Sunday, August 31, 2003, at 07:32 PM, Judy Van Dusen wrote: > The Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin has a very large set of the > books.
