Hi, everyone, Has anyone tried to obtain information from Holy Cross in reference to early parishoners? I have a lot of early relatives from the 1860s onward who were baptized and married, etc in Holy Cross parish. I don't know how receptive they are to people asking to look at their registers....any suggestions? Thanking you in advance, Patricia Meyers, Worth, IL

I am a Baseball Historian and I hope that soemone can help me find CHARLES R BRIGGS of Batavia, Ill Is there a central source on line or somewhere to write where no money changes hands? I have found many databases online where I just put in a name. I see there is a cemetery in Batavia, Do you think that if I write there, they could supply information on people who may have died 90 years ago? I don't know the exact date or place of death, but I know he was last known in Batavia in 1910 or 1911. I know his father and wife died between 1900 and 1910, probably in Batavia.
I am seeking the following birth records: All children of Morrell and Pheobe Floretta Baker of Kane County, Illinois (probably the city of Aurora or nearby) Clephane H. Baker 1851 Emmett G. My greataunt and uncle, the J.C.HOLTBYs, lived in Elgin in November, 1904, when my parents were married. My parents newspaper wedding story states that they married in Belvidere on the 23rd of November, 1904, and left immediately for Elgin to spend time with the bride's aunt and her family. The John Crawford HOLTBY family came from Brant County, Ontario, Canada, and to Elgin probably around 1896, and by the late 1905 year were in Colorado. I hope someone can help me find more about their years spent in Elgin. Their son Errol Bruce HOLTBY was just a year old when they arrived in the USA. Audrey Sever [email protected]
Hi there, I am a member of Ancestry.com and I have found what they had on George C. MATTHEWSON for the Civil War. He served with the 8th Illinois Cavalry. I am more looking for information on his father John C. MATTHEWSON and mother Elizabeth C. (Johnson). I was wondering if anyone could do a lookup for me in census, marriage or death records. I am desperate for anything I can find. Just a guess, but if he died of typhoid fever, doubt if he was transported anywhere - probably buried where he died. Have you tried ancestry.com? It's free today and you could lookup his civil war records...or if he collected on a pension. It's the last day it's free...Pat Meyers
Hello List, Just thought I would try and see if anyone has any info on my brick walls. My gggrandfather was George C. Matthewson, born in Blackberry Station, Illinois on May 26, 1842. He enlisted in the Civil War from Blackberry. He is the son of John Matthewson and Eliza Johnson. I know nothing about either one of them. Has anyone seen anything about either of them. I have been searching for the two of them for over 20 years. Thanks for anything you can tell me. Kane County Clerks Office has death records since 1877. That should help. Marcia Jim Beckman wrote: > > My great grandfather was naturalized in Geneva April 6 1890. There is also a series of binders transcribing all of the Kane County cemeteries in the Gail Borden (Elgin) Library as of the early 1980s. I go there almost every day at lunch to research my lines and could a lookup if need be. Gary King
There is a person listed on Rootsweb's Kane County Cemeteries site who is willing to do look-ups for the West Side Cemetery in Geneva. Is it probable he is buried there and his tombstone would reveal some info? Don't know about the death certificates.
