I found the man's name in an obit for my ancestor. I have been trying to do some research on Daniel, in hopes of learning a little more about my gg grandfather. When I have finished researching Daniel, I will give what I found to Kane County. I hope there is someone out there who is related to him, who would be interested in the information I have found. Thanks for your help. Debbie

    2. Thanks to Barbara for posting these. One of them was new to me, and I found the family I am working on in St. Mary's Parish! I am looking for GAHAN. The head of this family emigrated with my ancestor. They were childhood friends in Ireland. 1. [ILKANE] SMITH-HAISH in Kane County
    2. I am looking for information on the parents and siblings of Alta SMITH and her sister, Alice SMITH HAISH. Alta and Alice lived in Aurora or vicinity during their adult years. Birthdates probably between 1850 and 1860. The HAISH family had a connection to a soft drink bottling plant sometime after 1915, as my mother-in-law remembers going to their house and being able to have all the soda she could drink. Any help will be appreciated. TIA, Sharon

    3. Hi Ruth, I seem to be having good luck with the search in Kane County area. I live in Lake County, IL. so I think I'll gather what info I have and take a drive there and see what else I can turn up. My Dad died several years ago, and he never told me much about his parents ( I was young and didn't ask either...now I regret it) Both his parents had died before they met my mother, so she hasn't been able to help much. I'll just keep at it, and see what I can find! Since I started with basically nothing, I have already made major progress. :) debbie

    3. I found the listing for my great-grandmothers death in the Kane Co. death index microfilm and am wondering if anyone has access to the records in Geneva, Kane Co. and would volunteer to check it out and make a copy. I would,of course, pay for the copy and the postage. I have the book, page number and certificate number for 1908 for Mary S. JAMES. I know she is buried in Winnebago, Winn.Co.,Illinois but hadn't been able to find the date or where she died until today. Are there microfilmed copies of the old papers from Kane Co.? And would they be at Gail Borden Library in Elgin? Thank you for any help. Shirley Redmond North Bend, Or. [email protected]
