They have the Chronicle on microfilm as I recall. Also, the Chronicle is now on line -- but I doubt the old obits are. However, the Elburn Herald usually has old obits on line.

    1. [ILKANE] Elgin Road
    2. I just acquired an old photo type postcard from about 1912 with the caption "Elgin Road at Ferson's Creek Bridge, St. Charles, Ill." It was mailed to Miss Mary Scott at 20 Garden St, Auburn, NY and says. "Dear Sister Mary, Hope you are all well. I am thankful to say I am out again and in the country now. I was very sick for 7 weeks. It is grand to be well again. Will write a letter later. With Love Bessie" (at least I think it is Bessie). Any way, my question is -- Is Elgin Road, what is now Route 31 and was once Route 22? Or could it have been what is now Randall Road? Does anyone know? The photo is of a dirt road -- were the wheel tracks mostly appear in the center. The bridge seems to be a iron arch about 3 feet high reinforced with wood and metal. June

    1. [ILKANE] The Old Farm that is now Pheasant Run Resort
    2. My husband's father managed the farm that is now "Pheasant Run Resort." He was hired back then by Mr. Baker, who owned the Baker Hotel. Mr. Baker was friends with the Pronsinski's (or Pronzinski's .. not certain of spelling). My husband's father, Frank Mankowski, was taken from the St. Charles Orphanage. He had 2 brothers that he never saw again. Does anyone have any information on (1) the Orphanage, or (2) the Pronsinski's? Laura Mankowski
