    1. [ILKANE] elmwood?
    2. DEBS
    3. I ordered copies of some old family records, and as the birthplace on several copies, lists "Elwood Illinois" I'm assuming it's just bad handwriting and should be Elmwood. The dates are about 1890-1915. Just in case, has anyone ever heard of an Elwood Illinois? I sure wish people would have written info clearer... it would have made these searches so much easier. debs

    3. It's only surnames, but it lists that the name Fay has been found in 1) Lily Lake, in Campton Township. 2) Blackberry, in Blackberry Township 3) Riverside, in Aurora 4) St Michael, in Aurora 5)Mt. Olivet, in Aurora 6)Fowlers Grove, in Big Rock Township. 7) West Dundee, in Dundee Township 8)St. Mary's, in Rutland Township 9) Bluff City, in Cook County 10)Mt. Hope, in Cook Co. 11)Lakewood Memorial Park, in Cook Co. 12) North, in St Charles. ( yes, it just says North as name of cemetery) I know it's a lot, but still with all the cemeteries listed it really is helpful narrowing things down. I looked, and most of those cemeteries with the name Fay all look like they are still intact. There are about 20 cemeteries that say they are abandoned, and others that say have suffered a lot of vandalism. No mail addresses are in the book, so you'll have to look those up. I just got this booklet the other day, and I guess it was made by people walking the cemeteries, and recording the info, so I can't guarantee it's a 100% accurate. All I know is so far It's been helpful for me. debs

    3. Thank you very much for your kind offer to do lookups in the Kane County cemetery book. Can you please check the surnames FOSTER and GOODER for me? Thank you so much! Terry -----Original Message----- From: DEBS <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Thursday, October 12, 2000 6:52 PM Subject: [ILKANE] Cemetery book I ordered the Kane county cemetery book that is advertized on the Kane Co. Genealogy site. If anyone needs a surname looked up I'll be glad to do so for you. This is strictly a surname book. It lists the last name, and gives the cemeteries where the names have been found. (No dates, or first names.) It's pretty much just kane county, but a few surrounding areas are listed too. It's great for giving you a starting point, instead of just tying to write every cemetery in the area. Just thought I would offer. debs ....ps...the book was put together in 1986. ==== ILKANE Mailing List ==== Software and hardware for this list are provided courtesy of RootsWeb.
