A big "thank you" to Debs for all the looks ups she is doing!! :) Do any of you other people have wonderful things like this to share? Monica
I could be getting myself in trouble, but I should mention that I have been considering a project to get all of the Kane County cemetery listings posted to the internet in one of the many cemetery web sites. Not only is there a surname lookup book (that I believe DEBS is referring to) that is in many of the libraries in Kane County (I know that Elgin, Batavia and Aurora have copies, probably others also), but there are also a series of 3-ring binders that list all of the details of names, dates, etc., for each cemetery. The Elgin library has a full set, Batavia has the Batavia cemeteries (I live in Batavia and work in Elgin so I am most familiar with these), and other libraries probably have portions also. The effort was written / coordinated by Dean McMakin through the Kane County Genealogical Society in 1986. I have considered trying to do an update of each cemetery and post to the web, but I haven't gotten around to consulting the KCGS for permission to use their work as a basis. I think that everybody should help post a local cemetery info as part of the Random Acts of Kindness effort, whether your folks are there or not. What a way to help everybody else. Anyway, to make a long post longer, there is more info available on almost all cemeteries in Kane County. Others before us have done a GREAT deal of work. We need to thank not only the current lookup people, but also the folks who created the book. Thank you DEBS for helping all of these folks. And thank you Dean (and probably others) for pulling the info together in the first place.

Thanks for the offer to do lookups... I'm looking for the DRAKE family. Some I'll be related to, others we won't. Also SEAVEY family members. Take your time, most of us have waited for years for a lead like this on some of our relatives, another day or three won't make a difference.
