    3. I am interested in an Erastus W Allen who married my ancestress Eliza "Jane" (nee Baker) Thompson on 18 Mar 1862. She was born in June 1821 in New York. She is buried in Minneapolis, Minnesota and so I believe that this married couple must have moved there sometime after they married (most of her children from her first marriage ended up there too). I don't know if these two had any children (she was 41 when they married). I wonder if Erastus might be related to Lydia. Wendy Bergerud PS There is also a REEVES in the family: Eliza's daughter Mary married a Harry Reeves about whom I know next to nothing! 2. Do you have a birthdate for Erastus W Allen? I am assuming that they lived in Kane co - is this where they were married? Lydia Allen's husband, Almiron Yates, was also born in New York - Onieda co, NY I believe. 1. [ILKANE] COSTELLO
    2. Thomas Johnston, Jr.
    3. Am looking for any information on the COSTELLO family (also spelled COSTELLOE) of Maple Park, Kane County, IL. John (b. 1815, d. 1888) and wife Ann (nee Cullinan or Quinlan - b. 1830, d. 1913) moved there in the 1850's from Ireland via New York state (probably Rochester or vicinity), where their first child was born. The family were members of St. Mary parish in Maple Park, and John and Ann are buried in the church's cemetery. Children, most of whom sooner or later became Chicago residents, included James, John Jr., Frances (Fannie), Thomas, Ann, Anastasia, Augustine (Gus) and Catharine (Kate). 1. [ILKANE] Welch Family
    2. LEHAMPTON
    3. I saw the post on the Welch family and am wondering if we could be talking about the same Welch line. My Welch's were Samuel Hanson Welch m. Eliza Adeline Shetter(aka Adaline E. Shetter) abt 1880 possibly in Sangamon Co. IL. They later moved several times, but ended up in Missouri where Samuel died in 1943 and Adeline moved to California to be with her family. Any connection? Linda

    3. Hi Fred, According to a message from DEBS on 10/14/2000, the abbreviations are used in the Kane Co. Cemetery Book. "A3" is the designation for Riverside Cemetery, and "A10" for Mt Olivet ... both cemeteries are in Aurora Twp., Kane Co., IL. Others may be interested to know that "LS" is the abbreviation for the latin phrase "Locus Sigilli", which means "place of the seal", used after signatures on legal documents. 2. Fred & Marie Krauss
    3. Hi all, I am interested in several Kane County Genealogical Society publications and was wondering if someone has access to do a lookup in them? East Batavia Cemetery, Kane County, Illinois Kane County Marriage Record Index 1867-1877 Kane County Marriage Record Index 1878-1893 Kane County Marriage Record Index 1894-1906 Kane County Marriage Record Index 1878-1893 Kane County Naturalizations 1857-1955 Also, does anyone know if the above marriage records are any different than those online by the State of Illinois and if the Illinois 1860-1900 copies of the original licenses contains the names of the bride and groom's parents? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you for your time. Best Regards, Fred Krauss

Welch. In the Iroquis Marriage book, there is Ann Welch, married to Patrick Long. Herman Welch to Rachel Payne. Lydia Welch, to Eli Ruff. I have just started looking at cemeteries for info, so am not really sure of the proper way to request info. From what I've read, (and what I have been doing) is include the SASE, and a check for a few dollars. In a book I have it says that you have to remember these are cemeteries, and not research libraries, so include as much info as you can, etc. I just sent for info last week, and haven't gotten any replies yet, but I just based how much I sent by how much exact info I had to give them. For instance I know my Grandfathers B-day, and Day of Death. I just want to find him so I can find the info on my Grandmother. Anyways, since I had that info, I sent 2 dollars. On my Great Grandparents, I have no info except the names, and unfortunately the names are rather common so probably will require more time and copies made. For that I sent 5-6 dollars, and in both cases put in the letter to bill me if there were any other fees. Like I said, I don' know if it's right or not...just what I've been doing. debs

Do you know if your line was evrer n that area? In the birth records book, there is an Amy Elizabeth Koch, b-08/12/1911, to George C. and Mary E. Runck.

    1. [ILKANE] Useful Publications
    2. Marcia Holpuch
    3. As has been mentioned previously, we owe a great deal to the people who compile and publish helpful materials like the cemetery book DEBS has been sharing. In order to continue to produce publications, local societies need to actually sell their books. Often it is hard to decide when a book is worth your money, and that's where a lookup becomes valuable. As you research a family in an area, new names come to light which are certain to send you scrambling back through previous materials to find more information. If you have found these lookups to be useful to you, please consider adding the book to your personal research library. Information on publications for sale is located on most of the society web pages. The societies with web sites are linked from our county page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilkane Also consider joining the local society when you have a concentration of research. This will put you in touch with the "unwired" world where you may find that missing connection. Monthly or quarterly publications by local societies can be a gold-mine of information. I believe this cemetery book is a publication of the Kane County Genealogical Society. Thanks for your time, Marcia ILKANE Admin
