    1. [ILKANE] project I will be starting soon
    2. DEBS
    3. In the next month or so (kind of hard with the holidays coming up) I'm planning a trip to Kane co. Of course I'm wateing for a nice mild day. I will be taking my camcorder and am hoping to walk at least 2 cemeteries this time, ( if theres a big response will try to do this every other month, hitting two cem. each time.) and record the headstones so I can pass along photos of family headstones for the people that cant make a visit for themselves. If there is a lot of interest in this from list members I will likely make other trips to record other cemeteries. This is just a project I feel like doing, I know if I was out of state I would appreciate it. Anyway, if you guys have any free time please forward surnames your looking for, so I can start making a list... All I have is a cam corder, and I will not charge anything for forwarding a pic of a grave. If you would like an actual photo, or etching I probably would just have to ask a dollar for film, processing and stamps....unless I can come up with some other method. ( I'm not out to make a profit with this...I just like projects to amuse myself, but I'm afraid if I get bombarded with requests I wont be able to afford it) ( cam corder pics would be free of course) I studied Photography in Collage so you'd have to let me know if you prefer black and white pics, or color. This is still aways away, but would like to start making a list of names now. So if your interested please forward surnames for me to watch for. One other thing. I'm in Lake County Illinois, and am not familiar with the Kane/Aurora area, is there any safety issuers I should worry about? Is it fairly safe to wander around by yourself, and do you think the cemeteries will have a problem with me wandering around with a camcorder and camera? debs

    1. [ILKANE] Germans to America
    2. Wondered if whoever is doing the lookups from this set of books could do one for me. I am looking for a WINTERFIELD/WINTERFELD family that came over about 1871. I wondered what part of Germany they came from. Parents names in the family were Carl and Friedericke Winterfeld. They had a daughter named Carolena or Helena. Thanks so much!!! Bobbie

    3. Yes St. Mary's church is still there and thriving. I am unable to tell you how to get into their records but would be very surprised if they are on line. The church is at the corner of Gifford and Fulton and has a Fulton St. address. I do not know the address off hand but will get it for you if you would like to have it. I am sure that if you write to them you can get information. millie [email protected]

    3. Debs, I use the Family Origins version 7 program from Parsons Technology. This program has a feature under Reports called Lists. One list is the Problem List. You can set your own limits and the program will show your "problems" such as the mother is too young or too old, birth predates a marriage (oops!,) age at death (helps determine if you've got 1 Thomas Smith or really two), etc. Okay, you still have to decide how to set the numbers, but mine came pre-set. Hope this helps! And Happy Thanksgiving! Jean, looking for Hines in Elgin 1860-1870
