I have access to some Kane Co. naturalizations in my library, mostly early tho, think up to 1920 is the most current. The books usually give the year of birth, date they applied or declaired and the year for the final naturalization. Of course the document number and page. Be glad to do a look up for someone. Cidney

Deb: Old hat pins sound like something I would like if I were touring cemeteries!!! LOL I meant to mention to you that you could check with the cemetery managers and/or the local police to make sure what is safe and what is not as you go through your tour. Just a thought ... Take care and keep filing! :o) Diane (Indianapolis) ----- Original Message ----- From: "DEBS" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, November 26, 2000 7:52 PM Subject: Re: [ILKANE] project I will be starting soon > Diane, belive me I know it's going to be cold, but will try for a mild > day. Hi Debs--When and if you get around to it, please post when you will be going to the Sandwich IL area and possibly the Sangamon Co, Loami area. I have many relatives buried in both places and the way things are looking(was laid off 1/2 time recently) I won't be able to visit there from California very soon if ever. I am digging around in the Kane Co. area, although I am not sure if my Ransom BROWN is buried in this area. Ransom and his wife Eliza Anna were there in the 1850's. I know the BROWN surname is very common. I noticed you said you were from the Lake Co. area. Ransom was married a second time to a Mrs. Julia BASS in 1877. I received a copy of the m. license. It showed they were from Warren. Is there a possibility you could let me know if there are several cemetaries in this area? Connie
Diane, belive me I know it's going to be cold, but will try for a mild day. In collage it was stressed to us that you want gray overcast days when trying to take pics of engraved type. (Rain is also a plus) I don't know if it has something to do with reflection , but all I know is that it has worked for me in the past. I'll also arm myself with protection...hee hee. I have a collection of old antique hat pins that are very pretty, but aimed at the right anatomy could do some serious damage....lol. debs
Dale, do you know where your Elijah Atwater Updike originally came from, or any of the extended family names? I have a Velva Mae Atwater born in South Dakota, who married Hiram Edwards in Mclean County. and lived a short time in Kane Co. After the wedding she became Velva Atwater Edwards. She had a sister Maudella Atwater. Parents names were Julia Atwater, and Orricc Harrington. It's a long shot, but worth mentioning. debs

Hi Jim Beckman, I found a Johanna Johnson, age 20 occupation: spinster, Last Residence: Germany, Date of Arrival: 9-18-1882; now the destination only says USA-she was on the Britannic Ship. Manifest ID #36887; Port of Embarkation: Liverpool and Queenstown. This is all the information that I see on there under Johanna's name. --- Rahfeldt Anna <[email protected]> wrote: > Christiane, > > What is the name that you want looked up between > 1875-1888? > > Anna Marie (Simon) Rahfeldt > Ames, Iowa > --- Jim Beckman <[email protected]> wrote: > > Please let me know if you find some one with a > > German's to America . Debs, I would be very interested in acquiring photos of my great grandparents' gravesites if you plan to go to SPRING LAKE MEMORIAL GARDENS Cemetery in AURORA. There will be a bonus if you find the grave of my missing grandfather Abner G. Updike there, but I ain't holding my breath on that one! My great grandfather was: ELIJAH ATWATER UPDIKE, born Sept. 24, 1828, died May 6, 1895. My great grandmother was ORINDA L. (Treman) UPDIKE, born June 1, 1834, died April 5, 1924. They are probably buried next to each other. Abner G. Updike was born September 12, 1868, death date and place unknown, though he COULD be buried there too. Kindest regards, Dale A. Updike Saskatchewan, Canada
Deb: You really do a lot of nice things for people who are trying to find their families. Couldn't you have picked a warmer time of year to walk the cemeteries??? Brrr. When you are going through the Kane County sites, would you please keep your eyes open for any graves with the name: KRENWINKEL / KRANWINKLE / KRAWINKEL or any spelling that sounds like that name? I am still trying to find my Grandparents graves. Conrad Krenwinkel and Susanne Huess/Huss Krenwinkel. Susanne died 17 Sept 1915. I do not know when Conrad died. Hi Debs, Thanks for all you do for us all. I appreciate your tme and effort. I don't know the area either, but have never had any problems with cameras or cam corders in cemeteries. In fact the care takers were most gracious and helpful. Of course, since I am not a photographer, most of my pictures did not turn out because of lighting problems, but I'll try again sometime. Good luck and if you happen to see any of the following names I'd be most grateful for any picture. BAGDO DOMROSE STUCKMAIER/STUCKMAYER /STUCKMEYER Cathie Every Wall is a Door Emerson
I would surely appreciate anything on a MEAD especially cemetery KA3 in Kaneville. I've seen Fowler's Grove in Big Rock Twp. and found little left of the stones. That was heartbreaking because I know some of my family is there. Thanks, Gilda
