    3. According to the obituary in the St.Charles Chronicle on April 9,1931 the Rev J.David Ekstrom AND the Rev J.Tanner officiated at the service held , for my grandmother, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. I know that Rev. Ekstrom was the pastor at this time. Can anyone tell me about Rev Tanner. I have written to the Lutheran archives and they have been unable to tell me about the Rev. Tanner. Could he have been affiliated with another church?

    3. Hi Cidney, Could you look up a Michael George Simon-he was born March 1, 1876 in Bavaria, Germany. Do you need his parents name? If you do here they are: Johann Simon and Margareth Auer-those were the names on his Marriage certificate. Thank you. 1. [ILKANE] women & naturalizations
    2. Thought I would tell everyone that a little info about women and nauturalizations. For the most part, women couldn't become naturalized on their own until about 1920, if they were married to their man that became naturalized, then she and any children they brought with them also became naturalized. If she married an already naturalized man, then she was automatically naturalized, same for marrying an American born man. I will still look up the woman's maiden name, as other relatives of her's might have been naturlized. Cidney

    2. Margaret Southgate
    3. Cidney - I wonder if you would have time to look up a couple of naturalizations for me which may have taken place in Kane county? My g-grandmother's brother Hamlet HARTLEY b. Westhoughton, England 1838. Immigration dates of 1861, 1862 and 1866 appear on two censuses and his obituary respectively, but he appears on the British census for April 1861 so he certainly didn't arrive before then. On 24 Mar 1868 he was married in Aurora, Kane, Illinois to Sarah MILLS b. Oldham, England 1850 - I have no immigration details for her. Some time after the marriage they moved to Pawnee, NE - first child born there June 1870. I'd be very interested to know if you find any naturalization details for either of these two. Many thanks for your offer of help. Best wishes Margaret (MLFHS 12748) South Wales, UK [email protected]

    1. [ILKANE] Paul Lehman/Lehmann
    2. Ruth and Emery Leathers
    3. I grew up in DeKalb Co (just west of Kane Co.) and we had neighbors names Lehman. There was both Paul and Charlie. Like us, they moved around some, but were in Milan, Afton, and DeKalb townships in DeKalb Co. from in the 1930's to about 1950. I would assume they were probably born in the 1880's or 90's.
