Chicago Biographical Publishing Company 1893 Transcribed by Cindy Pegg George Otto Boos was born in Baden, Germany 12 May 1837. He was the son of George John Boos and the grandson of George Boos also born in Baden, Germany. His grandparents lived all of their lives in Germany. Only their son, George and his sister came to the United States. The sister was Mary who married Mr. Smith and lived in Galena, IL up until the time of her husbands death when she moved with her children to California. George John Boos traveled with his wife, the former Catherine Steedley of Baden, and children from Havre to New Orleans then up the river to Louisville. After the death of his wife, George moved to Golconda to live with his son, George Otto. Catherine and George had six children, Catherine, Fannie, Julia, Charles, George Otto and Amelia. George Otto Boos married in 1859 to Mary Margaret Plater of Pope County, IL. She was the daughter of Christian and Barbara Plater who were natives of Germany. George Otto and Mary Margaret had ten children, Lizzie, George, Fanny, Charles, Annie, William, Ellis, Guy, Effie and Ella.
