The following is a letter in my possession. The letter was to my great Aunt Pearl Huffman daughter of George Harpine Welker Huffman and Mary Ann Jones, of Vienna. If you can connect let me know. Mara Letter from Wyoma W. Riley to Mrs. Pearl (Huffman) Booth Vienna IL Sept. 5, 1962 Dear Mrs. Booth, Thank you so much for taking time to answer my letter. I have been trying to gather much information on all sides of the family. I have Mrs. Chapman's book and also have another book on the Shearer family ordered but don't know what will be proven by it. As you know our library is limited but I do have some Grissom information that might be of interest to you and if you would like you might check the library there and come up with something more on the Grissom side. You might get another line and also help me prove for the DAR. I'd be most happy to have you call next time you are in Vienna nd maybe we could talk all of the families over and find find out lots of things neither of us know. It was my mistake and not Miss Clara's -- as she said you went in on the Clapp side. In case you wonder why I say Miss Clara--- my mother went to school to her when she taught Simpson Springs School and that is what I have always heard and mother still calls her "Miss Clara". Some of our Shearer's settled in MO so your friend there just might be related to you. Hoping to hear from you again yours truely Wyoma W. Riley If you do check your library on the Shearers, Grissoms, Rose or most anyone I'd be happy to know what you find.
