These Webbs are quite tangled!! My notes reflect the following on Mitchell WEBB (1787-1869): Married 1st to Rhoda Elmore. Their children: Francis 1810-1863 may have married Martha MYATT Nancy 1811/1814 (no additional info avail... looking for her!) Allen 1815-1886 m Mary KOONCE, 1838 Mary 1816(?) (no additional info avail... looking for her!) James 1817(?) (may have additional info here, trying to prove out) Mitchell married 2nd to Sarah Elmore. There is some question as to these two wives... they may have been sisters, and Sarah may have been married previously. Looking for any documentation for these women. Elmore men appear in Morgan Co., TN census and may have been brothers. Several of Mitchell's children are documented as born in Morgan Co, TN. That was their previous location and my focus for trying to locate Nancy & Mary. May also have lived in Jefferson Co., IL prior to locating in Johnson Co. Many Webbs in Jefferson Co. Children of Mitchell & Sarah: Rhoda 1827-1910 m. Leander Homer KELLEY, 1849 Elisha 1828-1913 m. Nancy Caroline KELLEY, 1849 William 1829 (I have more infor here - believe married to Anne HALL) Thomas 1834 (have more stuff here) Barton 1836 (have more stuff here) Daniel 1839 (have more stuff here) Martha 1842-1907 m. William R. KELLEY Elisha Moore (male) appears in Johnson Co Census records as a neighbor to the Webbs. At one point, the Webbs appear to be housing the Moore household, and the mother (Purdy Moore) is gone. Several of the Moore children are found living with Webb families. Would have to check years again, but found it interesting - if anyone connected to this MOORE/MORE family, please post & I'll copy what I have. Francis Webb did not locate to Johnson Co with Mitchell & the younger children, but is buried there. 1850 has Mitchell, Allen, Elisha and the 5 youngest ones in Johnson Co. Francis probably arrived 1860-1862. He had several children and may be the father of Nancy Jane, also explaining why her birthplace is different than the other Webbs in this clan. I'll try to check the Overton, TN census for 1840 to see who her parents may have been. Couldn't find anything on the TN Archives USGenWeb for Overton Co. Elisha Webb had only one wife, Nancy C. KELLEY and they married in 1849. If he were the Elisha you have listed here, he would have been but 12 years old at the time of his marriage. Possible, I suppose, but unlikely. I currently cannot find a Polly Webb anywhere. Do you have any other information on her? Where did you find her? Age? Married? Single? As she may have gone by another name, I may have her somewhere around here, and would be happy to check. Samuel H. Simmons the Civil War vet (same man? or just the same name?) lists his wife's name as "Tennessee". Do you know where they (Samuel & Nancy) married? Or have a certificate for the marriage of Nancy Jane & Samuel? Might help to identify her parents. There is no headstone identified in either the Simmons Cemetery (where Daniel and Samuel are buried) nor in the Webb Cemetery for Nancy Simmons. Sure would like to get these folks straightened out :) If anyone has further information on the WEBBS or the SIMMONS, please post to the list. Interested in everything you may have to offer. I'll try to update my files to reflect all that I have learned here of late to provide more complete information.
