    3. This will be a set of emails on the Simmons clan as I call them who settled in Johnson County Illinois and lived the rest of their lives there. My Great Great Great Grandfather Thomas Simmons and his desendants. Thomas Simmons Born abt 1765 in North Carolina County? (Franklin?) Died abt 1850 to 1860 Johnson County Illinois Marriage- (Elizabeth?) Mary Ann Walker abt 1785 Children: 1) Wiley Simmons born Sept.24,1801 Bertie County NC 2) Lewis Simmons Born 1808 Bertie County NC 3) Peter Simmons Born Dec.24,1804 Bertie County NC 4) Daniel G or C Simmons born Jan.12,1815 Tenn. or NC 5) Nancy Simmons born 1804-1810 NC 6) Female Simmons born 1810 to 1820 Tenn. or NC 7) James (Potter?) Simmons 8) John (Calvin?) Simmons born abt 1785 NC Note this is not all of Thomas Simmons children. This is all we know of or have found possible connections too. Children 1 through three we are sure of. From 4 through 8 we are not sure of. Thomas may have been married twice but have found no record of a second birth. We do not know Thomas parents. He was in the 1850 Census of Johnson county and was 83 years old. He was born about 1767 in NC. He may have been born in Franklin county NC. Thomas parents were rumored to be William or Wiley or Wesley Simmons and Elizabeth Unknown, have found no proof yet. Thomas was married about 1785 to Mary Ann Walker or her real name could have been Elizabeth Walker. Thomas appears in NC in Chatham County between 1790 ad 1800. From the births of his sons he is in Bertie county between 1801 and 181?. In 1820 he is in Wayne county Tennessee. He lives there untill 184? when he comes to Johnson County Illinois where he lives out his life with his family. He dies sometime after the 1850 census of Johnson County. His sons come of age in Tenn. and marry there and start families before coming to Johnson County. Some of the other counties the family was in are Lincoln County Tenn., Cape Giradeau, MO., Wayne County Tenn.. Thomas continued to travel back and forth between Tenn. and Illinois before he died.
