More of my old email. Hope this helps someone find a connection. Mara Subj: Re: Johnson County IL Date: 97-07-30 22:04:57 EDT From: holpuch@erols.com (Marcia K. Holpuch) To: MBruce9681@aol.com Hello, again, Mara... I'm up to Friday night's messages :O) I think I may be subscribing to too many lists! My Johnson county names are: PARKS, CASEY, BELL, WEBB, PERKINS, ALEXANDER, KELLEY, HARPER, GRAVES, all mostly in the Tunnel Hill area SELLARS/SELLERS, MANESE (many spellings), MCINTOSH, LAMON (+ other spellings) in the Pulley's Mill area (also Williamson Co) BLOODWORTH, JONES, TOLLER, HUTSON, in the Lick Creek/Wolf Creek area (also Union, Jackson, & Williamson Counties) Many of these folks go back to 1850 + earlier, from Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, and other hard to identify locations. I sure do wish all the women would just keep their maiden names! Somewhere, I also have Chapman's book, but I haven't found it again yet. The last time I saw it was several years ago... I have some boxes yet to go through. When I last looked at it, I did not know about all these surnames, and am anxious to relocate it to see if I have others listed. As I recall, my Webb's & Casey's are listed, but that's about it. My Bell's were blacksmiths (ca. 1890-1900), and I'm hoping that will provide a strong source. Can you let me know if any of my other surnames appear? Maybe that will provide the extra energy required to find the book again. It's definitely gone into hiding somewhere! Thanks for any info you can provide... I see we share a Jones. My earliest 'solid' Jones is Viola, b. 15 Jan. 1885. I believe her parents are Haywood and Nell Martha Hutson, this from my grandmothers memory, not otherwise verified. They tended to stay over in Union County. She was one of 10 children. Thanks again. Let me know if you need other 1850 lookups. Always exciting to find the next level!
