Jordan Goddard and wife Rebecca are my 2nd great grandparents. Their tombstones are located at Dunn, Texas County, Missouri in the Rock Springs Cemetery. Jordan's tombstone is inscribed "Company I, 120th Illinois Infantry", which was a unit from Johnson County Illinois. Rebecca's stone (Becky) is inscribed "wife of Jordan Goddard". There are several Goddard households listed in Johnson County's 1850 and 1860 censuses, but none with anyone named Jordan. I have a reference to a Johnson County courthouse marriage record between a Jordan Godard (1 "d") and a Rebecca C. Horner occuring on June 18, 1854. Since her tombstone says "Becky C. Goddard", I'm inclined to think this is the correct marriage record for my 2nd great grandparents. With respect to her family, there is a Philip Harner ("a", not "o") with wife Sarah and several children listed in the 1850 census. They have a daughter Rebecca about the right age, and I believe their places of birth are corroborated by the information provided years later in the 1880 Crawford County Missouri Census and the 1900 Texas County Missouri census, where Jordan and Rebecca had moved. I have a record (somehwere) of a marriage between Philip Harner and Sarah Clarke occurring in Tennessee (where Rebecca was born). Does anyone have any clues who their families were in Johnson County?
