    3. Is anyone researching STEPHENS in Johnson Co. or does anyone know anything about them? My gr. gr. grandfather, William (Tanner) SMITH's son, Marshall Alexander married Arzilla (Zillie) STEPHENS on 26 Feb. 1882 in Johnson Co. Then a gr. grandfather, William Riley ERVIN, (who later married my gr. grandmother, a daughter of Tanner SMITH) had earlier married Malinda E. STEPHENS 08 Mar. 1868 in Williamson Co. Then a David J. IRVIN married Louisa J. STEPHENS 19 Apr. 1866 in Johnson Co. Louisa J. STEPHENS IRVIN then married 12 years later on 07 Mar. 1878 Thomas B. EVANS at the home of William Riley ERVIN in Johnson Co. and she was age 35 by then. That would have made her about age 23 and born circa 1843 when she married this David J. IRVIN. William Riley ERVIN's father was David IRVIN, my gr. gr. grandfather, who had to have been born circa 1825 and only appears in Johnson Co. records when his children married and as an heir to his mother's estate & he was still living 05 July 1872. He is not in any census records. His mother was Martha ( ? ) IRVIN so do not know her maiden name NOR do I know who her husband was. My dead end! So I am trying to determine in any way I can if this David J. IRVIN who married Louisa J. was my gr. gr. grandfather or was he a son of David IRVIN and I am also trying to find out all I can about David IRVIN which is why I am asking about STEPHENS hoping to find someone who might know about David. Would appreciate any clues at all. Thank you. Carolyn (Luton) Geittmann Cape Girardeau, MO
