I would appreciate a look-up for Newland Dodge. He married Mahala Jane Smith in Wayne County, Indiana in 1834 and then sometime before 1842 relocated to Illinois. His wife is listed as a widow in the 1860 census for Vienna, Johnson, IL. In that same census his youngest daughter was listed as 2 years old, so I am concluding that he died between 1857 and 1860. Thanks in advance for all your help.
I tried sending an e-mail about your Dodge family...but something happened... so since you have written again, I'll resend the little bit of help I found. this is what I said.... I too have been looking for your Newland Dodge in all the material I have.... the only thing I've found is a listing of his marriage to Mahala Jane Smith in Wayne Co., IN I found this in the IGI [International Genealogy Index] collected by the Mormon Church... I looked for Lavinia, Mahalia... All I found was Newland Dodge and his wife. I looked for Lavinia, Mahalia..... I've looked for Newland Dodge in the 1850 census index of the whole US, but he wasn't in there!! Is there any other name he could have used? Does anyone in your family belongs to the Mormon Church? They might have sent this information in. I find it a mystery - as you have already figured out!! Sorry I couldn't find more. louise erekson ----- Original Message ----- From: <llscottfl@cs.com> To: <ILJOHNSO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 25, 2006 1:43 PM Subject: [ILJOHNSO] Cemetery Look-up for Newland Dodge in Johnson Co., IL > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Dodge > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2g.2ADE/1082 > > Message Board Post: > > Does anyone have access to the Johnson County Cemetery Books?
