To anyone who may be interested, This Thomas Basil Gray is son of Basil Shaw Gray and Mary Ann Reynolds of Johnson County, Illinois. The Reynolds line is mine, but I don't really have anything on the Grays or Vandawaters. Margaret, I've been looking for a book about Johnson Co..... it's somewhere!! But I wanted to check with you, I had an Uncle Ted Gray.... he was married to my father's sister, Emma. I think his name was Theodore Roosevelt Gray.... they didn't have any children, at the end of his life, they had an antique shop just west of Vienna.....would he be a brother to the man you wrote about?
