Since you listed HENDERSON as one of your lines.... I'm wondering if you have any connection to Wilson Henderson... he was a Rev. War soldier, he was a minister at the Bangston Chapel and he came to IL about the 1818-1820.... I believe I am a descendent of his through Polly Henderson who married John Colboth..... just wondering??? There were several daughters of Henry listed in Early Marriage records of Adair Co., KY. > 1. Elizabeth White, daughter of Henry married James Jones, October 28, 1806. > 2. Polly White, daughter of Henry married Jeremiah Barger, August 5, 1811. > 3. Susannah White, daughter of Henry married Andrew Wolfe, December 24, 1812. > I don't know if the White or Wolfe families migrated to Johnson Co., IL but I do know that the Jones family moved to Johnson Co., IL about 1818. I have found James Jones in some early tax lists for Adair County around 1800-1810. This James Jones is mentioned after 1820 in his home in Johnson Co., IL and is referred to as "Elder" James Jones as his own son James Jr is of maturity. Elder James was married to his first wife Matlaid/Matilda Watson about the early 1790's time frame. There were at least 3 children born by Matlaid before her death. Andrew was born 1798 and James Jr. was born in 1800 in Adair Co., KY. I have old letters where James Jr.'s son John states " I remember daddy always saying he was born in 1800". > I am trying to figure out if all of the associated families travelled to Johnson Co., IL or if they stayed in Adair Co., KY? There is some reference to "Elder" James Jones in a history of Hickman Co., KY as being a early preacher of the gospel. It is dated in those years between 1818-1820 when the family was in transit from Adair Co., KY to Johnson Co., IL. The James Jones family is first mentioned in the 1820 Johnson Co., IL census after their move from KY. Some say there is a James Jones in Christian Co., KY that might have been ours but unless it was in those years between 1818 and 1820 then I don't know how reliable that information could be. I believe that "Elder" James was a son of James Jones. In other words our line of "Elder" James was at one time referred to as James Jones Jr. back in the mid 1700's area of Virginia just before the family is found by the 1800 tax list of Adair Co., Ky. It is just a theory but it is something that some of the different researcher! > s of this family have come across. > If anyone has an association with this family or ideas I would like to hear from them. There is some talk of trying to get together to do some cleaning at the Oliver Cemetery in March of 2007, trade information, copy documents, and visit. If you may be interested please call 270-755-5404 or send an email expressing your interest. Please put Jones family in the subject line. If there are enough of us to have some kind of gathering we can stay in touch and see what develops.
