EMERY, November 5, 1885, in Johnson County, Illinois. I am trying to connect John Wesley WOODs born 1851 in Pope or Johnson County, IL, with this John Wood who married Permelia A. Emery. He is in 1860 Census for Medoc, Jasper Twp, Jasper County, Missouri with parents and siblings. His widowed mother, he, and several siblings returned to Illinois before 1866. He is in 1870 Census for Licking, Sherrill Twp, Texas County, Missouri with widowed mother and siblings. He is in 1880 Census for Ozark Twp, Texax County, Missouri, John W. WOODs, 29, IL, KY, TN, "Pill" agent. I strongly believe he returned to Johnson County, Illinois after the 1880 census. Several of his siblings lived in Illinois 1860s, 1870s and 1880s: Johnson, Pope, and Jefferson Counties. Brother Henry W. WOOD was married November 20, 1867 in Jefferson County, IL to Ann McCANN Brother William C. WOOD resided in Jefferson County, Illinois in 1867 Sister Susan C. WOOD was married October 28, 1865 in Johnson County, Illinois to Joseph B. HILL, and were in 1870 & 1880 censi for Pope and Johnson County, IL respectively. Is anyone researching this WOOD family? According to the Johnson Co., IL marriage record book, page 80, John J... Wood, of New Burnsides, IL, coal miner, 2nd marriage age 38, W b. TN Mar. 17 July 1882 by J. C. Clymore J.P. in New Burnside father;Wm. Wood mother; anni Carington to; Cidney Bean, of New Burnside, IL 1st mar age 19 W b. TN father Rhuphn Bean mother Mary Spradley [it also says, no report] page 141 John Wood, New Burnside, 3rd mar b. Rome Co. East TN [Roane Co. ?] father, William Wood mother, Cyntha Caiant mar 5 Nov 1885 Thomas D. Gossage, M.G. at bride's home to; Permelia A. Emery, of New Burnside, 1st mar age 27, W, b. Henry Co., TN father; Marion Emery mother; Permelia Markam I don't seem to find the first marriage for John.
