About 30 years ago my mom gave me a quaint print of a snow scene with a log cabin. It is titled CHRISTMAS AT DRAPER'S BLUFF, c. 1921, "Union-Johnson County Line." I'm wondering if anyone can tell me more about the print & the artist, Ken Martin. The number is no longer legible, but it one of 1,000. (Mom was a Carson & a descendant of one of the early families in Johnson County.) Any info will be greatly appreciated! Pat in Kane County
Pat and Dick, I can't answer your questions about the artist, but several years ago, the picture was on the front of an Illinois magazine. I had it framed and hung it up ... my Greer ancestors lived in about that area....If someone comes up with the location of Draper Bluff, I would appreciate you sending an e-mail and telling me. Read your question and I have another. Does Draper's Bluff have anything to do with the Mr. Draper who wrote so much about Southern Illinois? I have not read his transcripts, but I understand there is an index to his writings somewhere.
