Peggy, John Samuel Murrie was my uncle. Sam and his brother Ward ran a store in Simpson for a number of years. Another uncle Lenis "Dude" Murrie ran a store in Simpson at a later time. All three are deceased. I was born and raised in Northern Illinois but our family visited Simpson in the 1950s and 1960s. I don't think Sam and Ward had their store anymore when we visited. I do remember Uncle Dude's store. He would always tell us kids to help ourselves to a free "sodee". I thought that was special and I have many good memories about our visits to Simpson.
