Her father was John Fitzgerald Thornton who lived between Buncombe and Lick Creek (just east of the county line between Johnson and Union Cos.) He lived just south of Draper's Bluff and once owned all the property up to it. Now the property has left the family. Anyway, I know there were several Thorntons living in Goreville and in Union Co. in the 1880 census, but I don't have any more information about my side of the family. If anyone has any information, I would greatly appreciate it.
