    3. I have been trying to find out where the Warren Cemetery is located in Johnson County. It is supposed to be near Grantsburg. I found a listing in a cemetery book in Johnson County, where it had been enumerated about 1974, but while visiting the area last year, was unable to locate. It is a small cemetery, only a few graves, but one of them is WINNIE MYRTLE VAUGHN, who was buried there Jun 24, 1917. Would appreciate any help. Marvin

    3. I am researching my father's family. My Dad was WILLIAM THOMAS PIERCE, b. September 12, 1894 in Johnson County, IL., born to JOEL GREENE PIERCE, b. Oct. 12, 1868 probably in Union County, and JOSEPHINE BURNS PIERCE, probably born in Johnson County to ROY BURNS and ELIZABETH KELLEY BURNS. Joel Greene was son of THOMAS JEFFERSON PIERCE and MAHILA C. ESCUE PIERCE. There were two other sons, FRANK and WILLIAM A. Thomas Jefferson's military record from Civil War states he joined from Union County, IL. Joel Greene and Josephine were married Oct. 8, 1893 in Johnson County. Josephine died from spinal meningitis in June, 1899. Joel brought his two sons, William Thomas, age 5, and Guy Franklin, age 3, to Texas, arriving on January 1, 1900. Several years ago I visited Josephine's gravesite located close to Goreville, Ill. On a later trip I was unable to find the cemetery but remember it being located next to a white frame church building and very well kept. I would appreciate any leads on my family. 3. Wondering what info you have on a Rice line. My ggg grandfather James Pascal RICE, b. @ 1818 in MO, son of Abijah and Jaley Ann BROWN RICE, was in Johnson County, IL and McCracken County, KY @ 1840, having left SE MO @ 1836 because the Indians of that area were removed. James Pascal RICE was 3/4 Cherokee/Chickasaw. By 1850, he had bought land in Jefferson County, IL, where he remained until @ 1858. He married @ 1843 a woman named Sarah, also called Winogi, which in Cherokee means, let's go sing. I do not know what her maiden name was, but it may have been HOGG. He and Winogi were probably married in Johnson County, IL. IN 1843, their daughter Martha Elizabeth RICE was b. in MO or ARK. Their subsequent children, William, Mary Ann, and Sarah, were born before 1850 in Johnson County. Their daughter Dicey and son James Abner were born before 1858 in Jefferson County. Just a long shot, but willing to try to make a connection! 3. Hi! My gg grandfather was Thomas Andrew Smyth/Smith. His father was Larkin T Smyth, b. est 1800, VA, died Johnson Co., IL. 1858. He married 2 Nov 1825 Jane Wise in Hardeman Co., TN. He married Margaret Ann Berton in Johnson Co. on 20 Nov. 1842. Thomas Andrew Smyth named a son, Andrew Peyton, born. Nov 1864 in IL Andrew Peyton probably never married but I have not found him after 1900 census. A number of Larkin T Smyth/Smith's decendents have been trying to find the parents of Larkin T Smyth/Smith of VA. Do you have knowledge of one Andrew D (David?) Smith?
