It is possible, but it's more likely that Thomas could be a son of one of Henry's older brothers. They all had children in Jo Davis County, but I'm afraid I'm only aware of those who went on to Sidney Iowa in the late 1860's. I need to get ahold of some census records for Illinois when I get back from vacation. With the number of Spittlers listed in the Jo Davies area after 1870, I'm convinced some of the children stayed in the area when their parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents moved on to Iowa.
