There aren't many 1857 houses still standing in Freeport. However the Stephenson County Historical Society's museum at 1440 S. Carroll Ave. was built in 1857 by Oscar Taylor and was called "Bohemiana". It is several blocks from the old St. Francis Hospital (now closed).
