    3. The naturalization records from approximately 1855 onward are in the County Clerk's Office on the 1st floor of the Court House. There is one small volume from the 1840s. There are earlier naturalizations upstairs in the Circuit Clerk's Office interspersed in handwritten court journals. The index in the County Clerk's Office is incomplete. I',m unsure if the index was made from the Declaration or the final Naturalization. Spelling of German names both in the original records and in the index are "iffy". Allow plenty of time for this search.
