This librarian is knowledgeable on local history. A FINAL NOTE: Galena was a major stop on the Mississippi River. The railroad had major impact on area history. Lead mining throughtout the area also had a major impact on area history. If you find that your ancestors were from one of the communities that is now 'a place in the road', there is most likely a local person or family that will know about that community or area.
