    1. [ILJODAVI] Re: Nora Illinois - Keely's ?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Jg.2ADI/1312.1 Message Board Post: Ken, I have some Keely speculation that you might want to run past your incredible mother. Some researching turned up three Crowell sisters, Lillie M., Edith and Blanche F. In the 1880 Census for nearby Warren all three girls can be found living in the household of their parents, Marvin Levi and Kate (Stanchfield) Crowell. At that time they were aged respectively 10, 8 and 6. In 1891, (Edith would have been 19), we have a marriage record from Nora that states that an Edith Crowell married a James Keely there. Now then, if these two Edith Crowells were the same person, and James Keely & Edith Crowell produced a daughter, Kathryn Keely, who was later orphaned, then it would be natural to find this Kathryn in the care of her aunt, Edith Crowell's sister, Lillie Crowell, supposedly then living in Nora. And of course, that Kathryn Keely would have Crowell grandparents as well. A search in the 1910, 1920 and 1930 census for a Lillie Crowell household might turn up your mystery Catherine Keely. As it turns out, in the Nora Cemetery there is an E. Kathryn Keely Roach (1900-1970). It could be that this is the same Keely girl. She would be a contemporary of your mother and one could imagine that she married a man, Roach, and as a result her maiden name is part of her name as it appears on her burial record. Interestingly, the cemetery listing suggests that she is buried next to three Keely individuals, a child, Clarence Crowell Keely (1892-1895) - (imaginably Kathryn's brother), an adult, Frank Dale Keely (1894-1961) - (imaginably another brother that was also orphaned and taken in by someone else), and a young woman, Edith Julia Keely (1872-1901) - (imaginably a sibling of Kathryn's proposed father James Keely, (but while he does have sister of that birthyear in the 1880 Census, unfortunately her name there is Rosa D. Keely)). (To wrap up this Keely family, the 1880 Nora Census shows this James Keeley living in the household of his parents Daniel and Harriet (unknown) Keeley. His siblings are: Delia F. - (probably married William E. McLennan in 1887), Leon F. - (probably married Edna B. Blackmore in 1894), and 8-year-old Rosa D. I'm unaware of who the ancestors are of this Daniel Keely family, (originally from Pennsylvania).) Please let us know if any of this sounds familiar to your mother. Good luck, Steve Keeley
