Your Carner family is nicely documented there. http://www.sos.state.il.us/GenealogyMWeb/marrsrch.html If you look around this archive site, you can also find land sale records and some death records.

What is the friend's name who co-owns it? Have you considered paying to having a title/abstract researched to verify who the current owners of the property are, perhaps they are presently paying taxes?

All I know is that he and a friend purchased the property in 1946. I found him in the 1930 census living in Morgantown. I was told he had a son and that he was from Illinois. I'm sorry I do not have any other info at the present, if I had more info I could probably find him without bothering anyone else. I do appreciate your responce though. Thank You and everyone else who have tried to help. God Bless

The naturalization records from approximately 1855 onward are in the County Clerk's Office on the 1st floor of the Court House. There is one small volume from the 1840s. There are earlier naturalizations upstairs in the Circuit Clerk's Office interspersed in handwritten court journals. The index in the County Clerk's Office is incomplete. I',m unsure if the index was made from the Declaration or the final Naturalization. Spelling of German names both in the original records and in the index are "iffy". Allow plenty of time for this search.
Do they have an index available or do you need to know the approximate date? -- Junk is stuff we throw away. I descend from Frank SNYDER who was born in 1809 possibly in France or Amsterdam Frank died in 1892. In 1845 he married Emma ABRAM who was born in 1831 in England. Emma died 1863. They are both buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena, IL. Frank came to Galena in 1829. Frank and Emma had 3 children who survived to adulthood; Henry married Alice Ivey Mary married Andrew Campbell Katie married Cy Atwood. I would like to know Henry and Emma's parents or siblings names. There are several family's of Snyders in Jo Daviess County. Are they related? Karen Hallett Hoaglan

Surnames: Johnson Schmitt West Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Jg.2ADI/1339 Message Board Post: I'm researching the family of the above, my ggrandparents. Carolyn's maiden name is given in family records as Schmitt or Schmidt, and I have no other information except that their son John B. Johnson was born in "Avery, Illinois" in 1883 according to his obituary. Family lore says it was AVA, all the way at the other end of the state, but there is no corresponding birth record there. There are two Avery place names in Illinois, and he's definitely not from the other one (near Peoria), so maybe the one in JD is right. Do any of you have records that might confirm/refute this, or information on possibly relevant Johnson families? The Johnsons would move to the bootheel of Missouri around 1890, by which time John B. had a brother named Charles (Charley) and a sister Rebecca (Beckie), but I know nothing of them except that Beckie's married name was West. Any help appreciated. This has been a frustrating family to research! Why couldn't my ancestors have had less common surnames ... :-)
I have not received any postings for the past couple days. Was wondering if there was some sort of problem? Sherri in IL
