I am a Parker Ok - Let me tell you what I know. There are Shockeys that DO NOT want to put the Dora Hamilton Bennett name to theirs Also, my grandmother was DORA Hamilton Bennett, and she had several kids, and one was Cora May SHOCKEY So, we have: Dora Hamilton Bennett / William Joseph SHOCKEY Who, by the way, SOME of the Shockeys don't want me to make a connection to, and daughter: Cora May Shockey (married an Alton Parker - no info in sight on Alton Myles Parker) And, some of her siblings were Effie, Bessie, Raymond,Bill (but, we don't think aunt Bill was her real name, since she married J C LaRue) & Alma, just to name a few. Then, Cora May Parker's kids were: all Parkers, living in Collin County TX.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Jg.2ADI/1050.1 Message Board Post: Your John Clingman was born in York County PA in 1789. He was the son of Jacob Clingman who was also born in PA around 1750. Jacob was the son or grandson of either Hans (Johannes) or Yorich (probably George, given family history) who arrived from Germany on the ship "Samuel" in 1732, from the Palatine area of Germany (roughly southern Bavaria) I have been unable to find the link to tell me which of the two led to Jacob. Anyway, Jacob married Catherine Holtzapfel about 1774 and they moved to what is now Greenbriar County, W Va, near the Lewisburg area, in 1797. They had the following children: Susan b. 1774, Jacob b. 1775, Eve b. 1787, John (your ancestor) b. 1789, Adam b. 1797, and George (I have no birthdate but think he's in the earlier group of children). Jacob married Margaret Hess, Susan married Christopher Toothman, and George married Polly Toothman. Jacob stayed in Virginia/West Virginia, I have not traced Susan after her marriage (women being almost impossible! , even when they're married), and George I have been unable to trace.John, Adam, and Eve moved to Ohio and settled around Amanda/Chillicothe, John later moving to Montgomery County. (There used to be a Clingman Street on the North-West corner of Dayton so I assume that was once the family farm) Eve married John Hess while still in Greenbriar County, Adam married Anna Miller, and John married Elizabeth Shank (1817), and later married Letitia Shank (1844). I am decended from John's son Jacob's son Dewees. His wife's maiden name was Koogler (not Koogles) and she lived in the little house next to the cemetary in Fairborn Ohio when I was a child. On Jacob's children I have the following: Margaret b. 1850, Susan b. 1851, James b. 1853, John b. 1855, Frank b. 1857, Rolla (Roland ?) b. 1859 and married to Anna B. Haas April 20, 1882, Adam b. 1864, David b. 1861, Dewees b. 1866, and Henry (Harvey ?) b. 1869 A lot of the other Clingmans you see on the web are tracing from an ancestor who supposedly arrived a little later than 1732, and I wish I remembered exactly when, but I have seen a copy of the ship's manifest, not just the list which was also published, and the name is definitely not Clingman. I believe the list which was printed later had a few typos. Those other Clingmans may well be related to our Clingmans, especially as the families were very large and they have many of the same "given" names, but unless I knew which ancestor was really theirs I wouldn't hazard a guess. Anyway "cousin" I hope this helps you ! Happy searching !

It appears that the Belk name only comes in to my family through marriage, as my Grandmother was his step-daughter. Thank you for taking the time to reply. At least I now know that's where the connection ends on the Belk side. Cheri

Surnames: moneyhon, thompson, white Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Jg.2ADI/1348.1.1.1.1.2.2 Message Board Post: Michelle, I have been told my Grandmother's maiden name was possibly Moneyhon. I've ordered my dad's birth certificate to verify. She was also from Lawrence County, AR (city of Alicia), her name was Mary but she did not die until the 1990's. I have divorce papers from my grandfather (James Luther Thompson) and her name is listed as Mary M. Thompson. So the middle initial is different from your Grandma, otherwise the coincidences are there. We're thinking my Grandma was born around 1915, so possibly yours is a relative (her mom maybe?). Maybe you could ask your aunt if the Thompson name is familiar in Alicia or Black Rock, AR. Or, maybe she knows whether your Dad had a sister named Mary with middle initial M. Once I get my dad's birth certificate (born in 1930), I'll post another message to let you know if I find a connection. Good luck with your search. Cheri.

Deborah is buried in the Blair Cemetery in Wards Grove, as is her father, William, brother James, and brother William Jr. along with many other family members. I have used all the Jo Daviess co records available on the 'net, plus other 'net sources, plus all the censuses., in my resear! ch, so far. This family is believed to be collateral to my husband's direct BLAIR line, which I've been researching for over 40 years. It is believed that William BLAIR, Sr. is the son of James BLAIR, b. 16 Jul 1752, VA, d. 26 Aug 1824, Ohio co VA/WV (left a will) and his unknown first wife. My husband is a descendant of James' 2nd wife, Anna Amelia BRAYFIELD HAGERMAN, whom he married in Hagerstown MD on 5 Apr 1795. I would love to share data with any descendants and also find a present day BLAIR male descenant of William BLAIR, Sr. to participate in the BLAIR DNA project (at no expense to the participant) Thanks for any help with these families and finding present day descendants, male or female. E-mail me or post a response. I also know that William BLAIR, Sr. married for a 2nd time as her 4th husband, to Phoebe G. CRAM on 4 Oct 1860 in Stepehenson co IL. Phoebe was the dau of Nathan CRAM and Rachel DUTTON. William and Phoebe had no children, but there were inter! marriages among their descendants.
