Hi everyone - I just wanted to let you know that the Ellis Island Immigrant site opened today. It's VERY busy though - so you may have difficulty using it for a few days. Hopefully it'll settle down soon. http://www.ellisislandrecords.org Cheryl Hemingway County Coordinator - Jo Daviess Co., IL USGenWeb http://users.rootsweb.com/~iljodavi
Am looking for info regarding a Rev. Lippman in the River Forest area around 1900 - 1910. Would assume he was probably a Lutheran minister. Also many thanks to Gary Price and Nyla Jogerst for helping me locate a host of new relatives. You are the greatest.

I would be much obliged for any information offered. Thank you, Stephen Scott
I must apologize to those of you who attempted to chat tonight. The chat room which I was going to try tonight comes to us through a group who just notified me that one of their servers went down this morning and they are working to repair. Methinks that by next Mon. at 8pm, www.freeportillinois.com will have installed a new chat room at our site rather than linking to one provided by someone else. Again, I apologise for any inconvenience. This has not happened to us before and we will take great pains to see that it does not again. It was brought to our attention that there were errors in Marriage Book "A", 1849-1855. Marjorie sent a fresh file to me this morning and it has been put on the Jo Daviess website, replacing the file that had errors in it. Everything looks good in it, but you may want to check and verify for yourself if you reported errors. -Cheryl Hemingway County Coordinator - Jo Daviess Co., IL USGenWeb http://users.rootsweb.com/~iljodavi

Posted on: JoDaviess Co. Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/JoDaviess/10871 Surname: Ewing ------------------------- The Ewing's of Council Hill, JoDavis Co. IL are of Cornish decent so I doubt this person are relatives.
I have reformatted the Marriage Books A, B, and C for the website and they all now load very quickly. When searching these records, you will need to use your "find" command in order to find the brides by the surnames you are researching. Easy to do, and this new layout saves so much time. -Cheryl Hemingway County Coordinator - Jo Daviess Co., IL USGenWeb http://users.rootsweb.com/~iljodavi
Hi, I am new to this list and am wondering if anybody can help me with a few questions. Am trying to locate a Theodore and Wilhelmina Buck (great-grandparents) Have located a Theodore (age 57?) in Lake Co listed on the 1900 census. Also a Theodore and Eugene Buck (ages 11 and 9) listed as boarders in Cook Co. About 25 boys were listed as boarders in a household headed by a Hoenig Borne. Does anyone know if this was an orphanage-sweathouse or anything else. Also does anyone have access to the 1910 census to see if any of these names show up again with more info. Thanks in advance. Mark
Posted on: JoDaviess Co. Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/JoDaviess/10869 Surname: RODDEWIG, MITTENDORF ------------------------- My 2nd gr-grandmother was Caroline RODDEWIG, born in Hanover, Germany abt. 1828, m. Louis MITTENDORF in Galena abt. 1848. (I know exact dates but don't have them with me). I've been trying to establish who are her relatives. Because there are so few Roddewig's in JO DAVIESS county at the time, I presume they're all related somehow. I'm interested to know which RODDEWIG you have on your tree.
Marjorie, the miracle worker, has sent a file containing marriage data from Mrg. Book F, 1886-1895. I have loaded this to the Jo Daviess website. I would like to ask that you visit the link and please report back to me if this loads quickly enough for you. I have a new computer, new software, and HOPEFULLY a new ability to produce large webpages that load quickly. Thanks, Cheryl Hemingway County Coordinator - Jo Daviess IL USGenWeb http://users.rootsweb.com/~iljodavi
