This would be around 1900, give or take a year. His widow, Jennie Hartsough-Marshall moved with her children into the home of her Mother and Dad, James and Mary Hartsough in Nora. I also do not know if the accident happened in Illinois or else where? Thanks much for any info, Ken at emerson@chartermi.net

If there is anyone that does look ups on this list of birth records then would they please look someone up for me? I am looking for a Jo Davies County birth record for a Grant Glasson in 1863, he may be listed as Richard Grant Glasson or Richard Glasson as well. His parents are Richard and Elizabeth Glasson who came from England to Jo Davies Co, moving later to Grant Co, WI. Many thanks. Gerald

The sisters were Bess Rieland and Molly Lutter. Kingsley had an 1880 plat book that someone bought at the sale. I saw it once at an outdoor sale in Galena. I am from Michigan and now have enough money to buy the book if it is still available? Inside the front cover will be the signature of Kingsley Miner. Thank you and please e-mail Ken Lamb at emerson@chartermi.net

Each Atlas CD consists of a series of 9 or more bordering counties making up 1 of 11 Zones that depict all 102 Illinois counties. Each Zone Atlas contains 400 dpi scanned images of vintage 1876 county maps that are organized and presented in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). Original paper source quality varied from county to county; however, every effort has been made to retain the integrity of the original maps during conversion to digital format. Each county map may include the following 19th century features: * roads, railroads and canals * cities, towns and villages * post offices and government sites * one-room schoolhouses, churches and cemeteries * rivers, streams and ferries * industrial sites, furnaces and mills * early homesteads and farms * and much, much more The Adobe Acrobat Reader for MS Windows is needed to view, zoom, pan and print from the PDF map images contained in this atlas, and is included free on each CD. I have just located the Hartings who I have been trying to trace for some time in the 1870 census in Jo D. Co. They probably died by the 1880 census, as they are no longer located there. Is there any probate index for those who left wills or estates in Jo C. Co.? ---Richard

Francis was the son of William McGinnis (my gr gr gr grandfather) and his first wife. So far we have been unable to identify the mother of Francis. We once thought that it might be Trifena Taylor but it was proved that she could not have been the mother of Francis. We (several McGinnis cousins) now believe that William married in PA and there are several theories what happened to the first wife. One theory has her dying and the children being farmed out to members of her family and there is another theory that they separated after an argument between William and his brother-in-law. William married his second wife, Jane Brown (my gr gr gr grandmother) in Bath County, Ky., the same place that Francis and Jane Copher were married. William and Jane settled in Greenup Co., Ky. and were the progenitors of the McGinnis line in Carter and Greenup Co.'s, Ky. After Francis and Jane moved to Indiana, Francis wrote a letter to Reuben (my gr gr grandfather), s/o William and half-brother to Francis, asking him and/or Reuben to join him. Could you please tell me about John and his family. I only have one child, Gertrude, listed for John and Augusta. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I have the following lineage for your John McGinnis: 1. Francis McGinnis b. cir 1735 in Ireland m. Rebecca 2. William McGinnis b. 5 Dec 1782 m. ??? 3. Francis II b. 8 Mar 1801 m. Jane Copher 4. The "mineral" was in very scattered deposits. I have not found a reference to Blackhawk. Evidently it was a very shortlived mining area. There was a Blackhawk War fort and blockhouse in Elizabeth, so it might have been near there. The Elizabeth City Cemetery has burials dating back as far as 1846. The Elizabeth City Cemetery-Old Section listing in this link has information from the sexton's books as well as from the markers, so is more complete than most listings that are made only from the markers. I did not happen to see any Capps or Armstrong listings, but I may have overlooked them. If you can get to this area, you might want to walk it yourself as I have record of one marker that was incompletely included in this listing. http://www.rootsweb.com/~iljodavi/cemeteries/cem.htm I also have not located any reference to "Georgetown". Good luck!
