I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this will. Found, misfiled in the Polly/Mary (Link) Dabbs, died 1856, probate file: A Polly Dabbs will dated August 12, 1873. Named in the will were: daughter Phoebe Worthy and her two children, Rosa and Mary Petty (Polly's grandchildren); and two more grandchildren, Lincoln and Molly Richey, heirs of Dempsey Richey. Known: Polly (probably Mary) had two children: Phoebe, born about 1835. This Phoebe is named Phoebe Richey, a daughter, in the will, but it is not known if she married a Richey or if Richey was her maiden name. If the latter, then Polly married a Richey. This Phoebe Richey married (1) Jesse Petty in 1860 and had two children, Rosa and Mary (both of whom were named as grandchildren in the will); (2) John J. Worthy in 1868 and probably had one child, Sarah M. (or Sarah was a child of Jesse Petty); (3) James Case in 1874. Permelia Jane Casey, born circa 1843 and died in 1873, so not named in the will (or possibly died 1878, but not named in the will). She was just circa sixteen in 1860, so Casey was probably her maiden name. If so, Polly would have married a Casey before 1843. Permelia was born circa 1843 and married (1) Dempsey Richey in 1858. They had two children, Silas Lincoln Richey (born circa 1861) and Mary E. Richey (born circa 1863). Lincoln and Molly (probably Mary) were the grandchildren named in the will. Dempsey died in June/July 1869 and Permelia married (2) George W. White in 1869. Her two children, Silas and Mary E. were living with them in 1870 (nearby Permelia's sister, Phoebe Petty Worthy). After Permelia died, George White married Rosa Johnson, and in 1880 Permelia's children, Lincoln and Mary were living with him. Possible marriages for Polly: A _?_ Casey. A John Casey married a Polly Barton, July 26, 1829, Madison County, Illinois. In the 1850 Missouri census there was a John Casey and wife Polly, Polly age 34 (b. circa 1816), born Tennessee; and a daughter Permelia, b. circa 1840 in Illinois. A _?_ Richey. If daughter Phoebe's maiden name was Richey. A _?_ Lewis. A Polly Lewis married William Dabbs in 1859. William Dabbs, uncle of the W.W. Dabbs (William Washington) who witnessed the will. 1870 census for William Dabbs, age 65, b. circa 1805 in SC; wife Mary, age 60, b. circa 1810 in NC; Rose J. Petty, age 5, b. 1865 living with them, probably Phoebe's daughter. Phoebe's other two daughters were living with her in John J. Worthy household. William He married, second, Polly (Mary) Lewis on March 29, 1859 in Jersey County, Illinois. I've spent long hours trying to solve the puzzle of who this Polly is. I think she was the wife of William Dabbs when she died, but have no solid evidence. Hoping someone can help with the mystery of who this Polly Dabbs was. Judy Griffin, in Wisconsin
