Edwardsville, Ill.: W.R. Brink & Co., 1882 On page 89 is listed the marriage license of Margaret Gillham and Benjamin Steadman, Oct. 13, 1814 from county clerk records. This would seem to answer the Peggy/Margaret question. Since McDow is supposedly buried next to her, is it possible that McDow was a later marriage? When did Benj. Steadman die? Or, could there have been two Margarets?
