My grandfather Rob Storie (b. Jersey co., IL in 1865) told me that when he was a boy , his parents were gone to town and that a man came by shot a duck, cooked it and told him he was Jesse James and was on his way to rob a bank. He was probably living in Macoupin county Nilwood area at the time. Since he moved with parents to a homstead in Fillmore county , NE in 1874 at age nine, I always thought the story he told occured in NE. Now I believe it was in IL if it happened at all. When did these other stories occur or do they have any dates? I've tried to follow the James brs. paths with dates , but the books about them don't pinpoint areas and years very well.
