My 4th great-grandmother was Annis. She was first married to Thomas Lee who presumably died in late 1840 or early 1841. Annis (2 Sep 1793 SC - 2 Apr 1885) was married 30 March 1841 in Jersey Co IL to Joseph Brown. She married James W Ballard on 16 Oct 1845 and Mordecia Gist on 22 Jan 1863. The last two marriages were in Greene Co IL if it is the same person. She is buried at Pruitt-Hawkins Cemetery. The gravestone which is in great condition and very legible shows her name as Annis Brown, wife of Thomas Lee. Annis and Thomas had at least one child - Nancy W Lee who married Jonas Bradshaw.
