Edwardsville, Ill.: W.R. Brink & Co., 1882 On pg. 86, says that in twp. 6, range 9 (Fosterburg), the first settlements were made about 1816 by Jos. S. Reynolds and Orman Beeman, wh lived there til 1822. On pg. 536, in a chapter on Fosterburg, says Orman Beeman made some improvements on section 28 in 1816 and was there until 1828. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- History of Greene and Jersey Counties, Illinois Springfield, Ill.: Continental Historical Co., 1885 On pg. 436, says that Orman Beeman settled on sec. 30 in 1824, where he md. a daughter of Joseph White. He was a native of SC and lived in Madison Co. [IL] several yrs. before coming here. He was a volunteer in the US service against the aborigines. He lived here til his death.
