Illinois. She was the daughter of Joshua Powers and Emma Schaaf. Joshua Powers was the son of Rebecca Neeley Powers. According to my research the Neeley line first settled in North Carolina, Rowan Co. and migrated to Illinois after 1834 when Sarah Campbell Neeley/Neely died in Rowan Co and her widowed husband brought their seven children by covewred wagon. They traveled with father Richard Neeley, grandparents Samuel Neeley and Nancy VanPool Neeley and uncle Joshua Neeley. Ellen Powers was the niece of my great grandmother Sarah Ellen Powers all of Jeresy Co. Illinois. If you are in the Jersey Co. area the Neeley's (most of them) are buried in the Grimes Cemetery outside of Jerseyville. If you would like to share or get information I am willing to share what I have collected. I do not have exact dates on any of Ellen Powers Overmeyer's children just the years gleened from the 1920 census. I would love to bring that branch of the family up to date.
