Carol, Since you used to live at Newbern, did you ever know of a family by the name of PATTON? My great grandmother Charlotte PATTON KOBEL was born there. I've been having a heck of time tracking her after the 1900 Jersey County Federal Census when she is shown living with her father Adison PATTON at 168 in Mississippi Township. She is listed as Lottie along with Laura and Lucy (which I believe are her sisters). Her mother Ida KEMPER PATTON is not listed. Ida and Addison were married 10 Jun 1888. Anything ring a bell?
