Benjamin Spry Jr. (one of my husband's ancestors) murdered Rowden, and Peter [along with Ben's brothers John and Henry] was there with him. This all happened January 6, 1880. Peter spent some time in jail following his capture. Ben was convicted of murder. They were taken to Madison County nearby because a lynch mob wanted "to decorate a tree with them." If you want more details, let me know. I don't know when Peter got out of jail or what happened to him.
