    3. Jersey bicentenniel history concerning Fidelity. State that the town had a rough name, in about 1860 time period. x-lieut Mortimer S. Scott was rumor to have connection with outlaws Law posses, men named Shepard, Cross, Beaty, Wedding , Corey and other surrounds Scott resident , west of Delhi, arrest Scott and his associate Tom Moss and "Henderson" A stolen horse was found. Taken to military prison in Alton. Scott made bail Moss and Henderson was jailed but both escaped and return to Jersey in disquied. Moss was tried , in Aug 1865and hanged 1 Sept 1865. Only execution in Jersey. Shepard, Cross, Beaty, Wedding , Corey first names were given, if any one need them. Moss and Henderson was not their real names, they were wanted in Mo for other crimes. Jersey firstsettlers had a horse thieved dectives society, composed of almost all property owners, which last until after closes of Civil War Posses would search for thieves, bring back horses, with man found dead later Jean
