I read the Rosedale Cemeteries. Every single one of them as well as most of the others in Jersey County. Some I had others helping but for the most part of my readings, it was just me and my wife. As for George L. Smith and the others in the Rosedale and Meadow Branch cemetery it was 1991 and I just don't recall his stone. I looked up the sources for other than his stone reading and the only other mention was from a local newspaper and it was from the following Feb. and it only says, George L. Smith of Rosedale died a couple of months ago. End of story. As far as others finding fault with the recording of the stones. We made that plainly clear that because of humans reading the stones, we do make mistakes. Would it be better if we did not list them? We all did them as volunteers. I don't know who read the stone, what type of condition the stone was in at the time or when the stone was viewed for the inventory. I think this may be the same person who married the former Bertha Rowden on 15 Dec 1890 in Jersey Co IL, but the 1900 census gives some doubt. In the 1900 census Bertha is identified as a widowed sister to the head of the household. She is living with her brother Clarence and his family, but she is implied as having Rowden as her last name. I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light about the George Smith buried in Rosedale Cemetery. Thank you in advance.
