Edwardsville, Ill.: W.R. Brink & Co., 1882 On page 89 is listed the marriage license of Margaret Gillham and Benjamin Steadman, Oct. 13, 1814 from county clerk records. This would seem to answer the Peggy/Margaret question. Since McDow is supposedly buried next to her, is it possible that McDow was a later marriage? When did Benj. Steadman die? Or, could there have been two Margarets?

Died 9/24/2848 and is buried in Newbern Cemetery in Jersey County (my ancestor) She married John McDow, Jr. b 12/29/1770 in North Carolina, died 10/20/1834. buried next to Margaret in Newbern Cemetery. The following is provided in the History of Madison County, IL Agnes married John Lofton; Sally m. Mr. Waddle & Mr. Jarvis; Jane m. William Davidson, Peggy m. Benjamin Steadman; Polly m. Frank Kirkpatrick. The conflict appears with Margaret + McDow and Peggy + Benjamin Steadman (m. in 1814). Is it possible that Peggy was a name for Mary rather than Margaret? In another reference, Margaret's death was indicated in 1818. Mr. McDow lived until 1834. Any information regarding the "Peggy" who married Benjamin Steadman would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!.

It will get me started on a little project I've been intending to do which is photographing my families graves as well as the graves of Gary's relatives. It may take a little while as I will do them on my day's off. Lax Cemetery is East of town and I've only been there a couple of times. Oak Grove is right in town and and is where my mom, Step mom, and grandparent's are buried. Lawrence Powers is buried at the Catholic Cemetery here in town and his wife Rebecca is buried at Grimes Neeley Cemetery whisch is where some of the Powers family is buried. Also at the Catholic Cemetery here in town is buried a James Powers that I am told is Lawrence Powers' father but I have no knowledge of where Lawrence's mother is buried. I have tomorrow ( Tuesday ) off as well as Thursday, Saturday and Sunday this week. In short, yes, I'd love to do this. I have some information on the Seago's too. Can you receive a FamilyTreeMaker File?
