Trying this again since the first one went off into Cyberspace somewhere. In the 1885 " History of Greene and Jersey Counties Illinois " page 790 in the Greene County part " Section 26, of T. 9, R. 12, received a settler in 1829, in the person of Marvil Morris. He was a native of Tennessee, the son of John and Mary ( Lewis ) Morris, and was born on October 2, 1807. In 1809 his father brought his family to Illinois, settling in Pope County, where he died in 1822. The same year the family removed to Jefferson County, this state, where Marvil and Mary Estes were united in marriage. In 1829, he came here, as above stated, and lived here for a lifetime. His wife died in October 1868, but in November, 1872, he was married to Miss Maria Redding. Mr. Morris died in St. Louis, Missouri, February 7, 1876, but was at the time a resident of this township. " Page 808 " Cyrus Morris, commenced the business of dealing in hardware, harness, etc., in 1870, erecting the building in the winter of 1869-70, removing part of it from the old town. He has conducted the business alone ever since. The hardware department is 24 by 30 feet in dimensions. An L, 20 by 40 feet in size, contains the harness department. He handles stoves, tinware, furniture, undertakers goods, etc., in addition to his other lines. His stock is valued at about $4,000. Looking for information in the Greene/Jersey County History Book about John HENKEL and Hannah Pritchett family and about John HINKLE and Lydia Hays familly John HENKEL married Hannah in 1863, she died in 1881 and John HINKLE married Lydia HAYS in 1882 both in Jersey COUNTY. Thanks. GLENN
