    3. Hi---I'm a real amateur, but I do know you can go to Google or other places and ask for cemetery records for certain localities eg IL. I've never done it myself for IL but have for other states. And also, during the depression years, one the WPA projects was to hire people to visit cemeteries (actually, I think it was mainly to find the graves of veterans??) but in the process they identified all burials in particular cemeteries, the description, condition, condition of stones and fences etc. All cemeteries were not included, possibly because of the WPA project being discontinued. I know these searches are on microfilm at the LDS library--maybe also on the internet. Also, I know it was not uncommon to find orphaned children in different homes--quite often in homes of relatives -----Original Message----- From: Michael S. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the kind offer. I am really most interested in finding the obit for John Wesley Miller who died sometime between 1880 and 1900 (not the John Miller from Germany who died in 1880.) I cannot find his death date though so feel it is hopeless to ask for an obit. Thank you again for your kindness. Jeanine

    3. I am looking for any information I can find on this lost soul. Here is what I know: Birth: Abt. 1840 (IRE - King or Queens Co - I think) Marriage: Cornelius Whalen, Jersey County, Dec 25, 1856 Death: Abt 1867-70 (Location Unknown Poss. Jerseyville area) Children: Mary Ann Whalen: Birth - September 01, 1858 Daniel Whalen: Birth - July 30, 1861 Thomas Whalen: Birth - January 10, 1867 I also know she appears with Cornelius in 1860 Census: WHEELER CORNELIUS 22 M W IREL IL JERSEY JERSEYVILLE PCT 1860 He was with Lizzie 20 and child Mary Ann, 1 Her Son Thomas Whalen's Obit said that she died when he was an infant. I believe during that time they would still have been in Jersey, However, I also have some information that shows an orphaned Thomas Whalen: There was also a Thomas Whalin, age 2, listed as an orphan in 1870, in Montgomery Co., IL. Also but in a differ location his brother Daniel and sister Mary are also shown as orphans. Which lend credibility to the fact that I was told that the father up and went out west at some point and left all his kids at a crossroads. If he was an orphan at that age in 1870 then his mother died maybe around 1867 - 1870ish. What I am looking for is any information on possibly where this woman is buried, how she died, anything at all. It is obvious by census records they were in Jersey in 1860s then possibly the youngest son was orphaned by his father sometime after the mother died. Any information on her, possibilities where they could have been buried or anything would be great. I think they lived in Jerseyville PCT, but I also have a baptism cert for Thomas that says something about fidelity/medora. Any help on her would be immensely appreciated. Mike McGough

White was prominently identified with the profession at Jerseyville for several years. He was born in Massachusetts, in 1832, and came to this place in 1852. He was married, in 1858, to Hattie Hawley, who resided a short distance from Jerseyville. He continued the pursuit of his profession at this place until 1870, when he removed to Bloomington, this state, where he still resides. He has passed into history as having been one of the leading physicians of Jerseyville, and a skillful and successful practioner. He was also a member of the Masonic fraternity, having attained the position of master. " Page 275 " Daniel P.
